Siqi Wang, born in a small town in Henan, China, began studying music theory and composition during his high school years. In 2014, he received an offer from the Xinghai Conservatory of Music located in Guangzhou, China. In Xinghai, Siqi was selected to attend masterclasses by renowned American and Chinese composers such as Dr. Dmitri Tymoczko and Prof. Ye Xiaogang and workshops held by acclaimed ensembles like LoadBang.
In 2021, Siqi completed his master's degree in music composition at the University of Missouri-Kansas City Conservatory. In the same year, he was accepted into the doctoral composition program at UMKC Conservatory. Currently, Siqi is pursuing a DMA degree under the guidance of Zhou Long, Chen Yi, Yotam Haber, and Paul Rudy at UMKC Conservatory. Siqi has been accepted by music festivals such as soundSCAPE, RED NOTE New Music Festival, June in Buffalo, and Fontainebleau Schools of Music and Fine Arts. Additionally, Siqi is the winner of the 2021 ASCAP Morton Gould Young Composer Awards and won the second prize of the 3rd Artinno International Orchestral Composition Competition.
